BICYCLE PATROL

The police department in 1997, in conjunction with the Bell Atlantic Pioneers and local businesses, put into service 2 fully equipped police package Cannondale mountain bikes. The bikes are a part of growing community oriented policing project for the Borough of Homer City. This has allowed officers to become more in touch with the community and assisted with our bicycle safety and registration program. It has also enabled the officers to patrol areas of the borough that could not be accessed by a vehicle. Currently there are four officers assigned to the unit utilizing the bike for patrol and education.
