- Outdoor burning of all materials, including all types of waste, trash and rubbish is prohibited. Cooking in a grill, outdoor masonry fireplace, smoker, or open propane burner is permitted without a permit, if using only clean, dry, natural wood, natural gas, propane or charcoal. Recreational burning of only clean, dry, natural wood or charcoal or commercial fire logs, propane or natural gas is allowed if it is contained in a burning appliance such as a metal fire pit, outdoor masonry fireplace etc. (no burn barrels). Recreational burning must cease at 1:00AM and be completely doused. Please contact the Homer City Borough Police with any questions or for a burn permit if you want to have any open fire not described above.
